In terms of usefulness, I think both are great to know. There are large communities that speak both languages, and knowing either could be beneficial. But difficulty and fun are things you should figure out based on your own opinion, not ours. If you're planning on traveling, think practically. Are you going to Russia, Eastern Europe or the Balkans? Russian is likely the best choice. Or would you rather go to Lebanon, Palestine, Egypt, Jordan and other Middle Eastern nations?
